My Story
I am an expert in gender and sustainable development, with two decades of experience in international policy research, the global mining sector, and independent consultancy. Based in the UK, I have a proven track record in addressing complex social challenges through thoughtful engagement and strategic advice.
Until recently, I served as the Group Social Performance Manager at De Beers Group, where I provided leadership on social impact across global mining operations. I spearheaded initiatives on community human rights, gender-based violence (GBV), and artisanal mining (ASM), developing frameworks and programmes that enhance local accountability and stakeholder engagement. My work includes development of a global risk register and launch of a comprehensive GBV impact framework, which significantly raised awareness and leadership accountability across 20,000 De Beers workers globally.
Prior to my role at De Beers, I was Senior Researcher and Associate at the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED). There, I led impactful research and multi-stakeholder dialogues, contributing to policy-making and sustainable development in the mining and agricultural sectors. My work on the ASM sector has informed new standards and attracted global engagement.
I hold a Master’s degree in Development Management from the London School of Economics and a Law degree from the University of Nottingham. I am also a certified Mental Health First Aider and Prosci Change Management Practitioner. In addition to my professional roles, I serve as a Trustee of the Weald & Downland Living Museum, where I apply my sustainability expertise to the conservation of historic buildings and landscapes.
